Man, I love musicals. I mean, I grew up as a theater kid … AND BEFORE Y’ALL SAY ANYTHING, LET ME DEFEND MYSELF .… Actually why do I need to? JUST DON’T BE A HATER 👺. If you cannot appreciate the art, vocal intricacies, stage technicalities, and storytelling then I don’t think your opinion matters. 😤 I don’t get why people hate them —- like if it’s not for you, it’s not for you, but don’t take it out on others. Like come on 🙄.
Unfortunately, I’ve only been to three Broadway shows (bless up 🙏 stay humble), but they were unforgettable experiences that I still reminisce about today. The acting, singing and choreography were all CHEF KISS. Even when I can’t go to a show, I can still experience the worlds through the soundtracks. Some musical soundtracks that I’ve listened to over the years include “Annie,” “Be More Chill,” “Beetlejuice,” “Dear Evan Hansen,” “Hadestown,” “Hamilton,” “Heathers,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Kinky Boots,” “Six,” “Wicked,” and the list goes on and on. Movie musicals are alright too, though I feel like a special quality is lost once the stage aspect is removed. ☹️ AND YES SOME MUSICALS CAN BE BAD, BUT DON’T LET A COUPLE ROTTEN EGGS RUIN THE BATCH. THERE ARE STILL GOOD ONES OUT THERE!!!
Although I’ve gotten less involved with musicals over the years and grown fearful of the stage, I still look back fondly at those times. As a kid, performing on stage felt like living in a dream that I didn’t quite understand. Yet, it’s nice that I have a time capsule of myself in that moment of time and space. Yes, I’m holding space for myself 😌✨. Anyway, I think everyone should get to experience a musical once in a while! WE CAN KARAOKE SONGS TOGETHER!!! PLEASEEE 😭! I understand that it’s not for everyone, but don’t be a hater ‘til you’ve at least experienced it. That can be a motto for life or something. 🫶
