Blog 04/29: My Crashouts in a Dr. Seuss Poem

I wanted to write of sweet love and delight,

The four years at Bing that have shaped me just right.

The excitement! The triumph! The waving goodbye,

The caps in the air and my head to the sky!

I wanted to share all the joy and the cheers,

The lessons I’ve learned through the laughs and the tears.

I wanted to write about blood, sweat, and pride —

But instead, let me tell you … I’m crashing out inside.

Oh, I thought I’d complain, but then I hit erase,

No bad juju here please!

Had to tease you — no trace!

Instead, let’s rewind, take a trip down the lane,

Of fond mems and chaos that rewired my brain.

Four years at this school, through the sun and the snow,

And somehow I’m staying for grad school,

Oh goodness, I know!

Yes, I chose it myself. What a plot twist, yippee! Surprise!

Now pass me some Red Bull because I’m losing my mind.

HKES was a ride — oh, a ride quite bizarre,

Like old El Toro, that wooden, rickety car.

It buckled and wobbled and rattled with might,

It tossed you around till you screamed out in fright!

Your head might just pop! Your spine might just crack!

No headrest in sight, no support for your big back!

But AO, dear AO, was a splishy-splash treat,

Like a log ride of laughs where the soggy feets meet.

There were bumps! There were crashes! Oh, the layouts were wild!

There were splashes from H2AO, sweet, and riled.

When I say, “I can’t wait to leave!” I declare,

My grades are a mess!

Like my once-neat hair.

Since PAL Intern days, it has never been worse,

Two years of this juggling felt more like a curse.

But memories sparkle, they shimmer, they gleam,

They dance in my mind like an amnesia-filled dream.

Though therapy’s calling, yeah, that’s no joke,

Though friendships have crumbled and tears have been soaked —

So was it worth it for you Sophia? Honestly, who’s sure?

The answer’s still confusing, a bit insecure.

But for bruises and giggles, for breakdowns and cheer,

I’m stronger, I’m smarter — I lived through the year! (Well, years)

And though part of me’s screaming to run far away,

Another part smiles … I’m proud of it all anyway.

Oh, by the way, The Cat in the Hat live-action is one of my favorite films. They need to make more live actions. I’m currently waiting for a Lorax live-action.
