Ever since I started college, waking up for 8 a.m. classes has been impossible. I don’t know what is in the air, but I just cannot wake up for the life of me. But alas, spring semester has to do me dirty and have all my class sections in the morning. I can barely wake up for my 11 a.m. classes, how am I going to wake up for an 8 a.m. class . . .
You can say the solution is to sleep earlier, but I swear I do. I get a decent amount of sleep every night. No, it’s not five hours, it’s at most 6-8 hours depending on how much work I have. And when I do get sleep, I still can’t wake up, omg. I have to set like 10 alarms every night that I practically have an alarm for every hour and minute just in case I don’t wake up. I need help. Coffee does not keep me up btw, if anything it sends me to the toilet 💀. I also do not want to rely on energy drinks either 😀. High school me was on something. I don’t know how I got up at 6 a.m. everyday, got ready and got my ass out on time to commute from Brooklyn to Manhattan just to go to school. And now I can’t even get up…😭😭😭.
Anyways I think there was a perfect (temporary) solution to my issue during the first week of classes. At the start of this semester, my upstairs neighbor brought their dog to live with them. However, their dog was so loud that we could hear its heavy footsteps and barking from downstairs. We could hear it bark every so often and this was very prevalent in the MORNINGS. At first I found it annoying that I would get woken up so early, even before my alarm went off. But did I get to class on time? Yes I did 🤩. But now that the dog is gone, I have to rely more on my alarm clock to wake up. To my upstairs neighbor, your dog was doing us all a favor, please bring him back 🙏.
But now that I have to set 10 alarms, I pray I don’t oversleep . . .
