There was a time when if I saw a nice, fat steak on the menu, I would probably get that seven out of ten times. The three times that I didn’t order the steak were because I’m broke. I grew up thinking steak was a rare delicacy, and whenever my family did order steak, they would order it well done or, at best, medium well. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that I didn’t have steak very often. Today, I will tell you guys about some of my favorite steak memories.
My first memory is at the American Dream Mall. I went with a close friend and two other people. It was pretty fun for the most part. The water slides were neat. Funny thing, my friend almost drowned, and the lifeguard had to jump in the water. Anyway, there is a restaurant called Carpaccio, and they had a fire filet mignon. I didn’t even order it. It was way too expensive. I got, like, the seafood pasta or whatever, which was still highkey expensive. I forgot this was years ago. But anyway, one of the people from our group did order the filet mignon. We were eating, and things were nice. My seafood pasta was pretty good. All of a sudden, the person who ordered the filet mignon started having an allergic reaction. Of course, we were concerned, and the restaurant also did its part in helping. However, the result was that I got to finish the filet mignon. I’m telling you, that piece of meat was soooooo tender. It was the only steak in my life that had actually melted in my mouth before. If I’m feeling extra rich and I happen to be at American Dream, I would go back to Carpaccio and get the filet mignon. Mmm, fire steak.
My second major memory of steak was actually last year during AO’s retreat. For last year’s deco, I was part of the sculpture group, and that was interesting to say the least. Anyways, for our efforts, our ex-senior advisor/secretary/historian klow5 bought some fat steaks for us and cooked them during the retreat. I remember getting out of the hot tub and freezing as it was cold as hell outside, and I was still pretty drenched. The first thing I ate was the steak. It was very good. I hope that someone will make me steak on a trip again in the future.
Now, the reason why this blog is all about steak is that if you reference the picture, I have so much meat. Turns out if you go to Sam’s Club, you can just buy a big ass loin for one hundred and twenty dollars and cut it into roughly twenty one-inch New York strips. I’m pretty sure the only downside is that, in my opinion, it doesn’t taste that much like beef. You know that beefy flavour. I don’t taste much of it. Must be the preservatives and other stuff. You can easily cover it up with butter, salt, pepper, and whatever else you want. But yeah, very happy about the steaks and will be feasting.
Also, before I bought the steaks, I had a class where someone had a fortune cookie. I said I wanted a fortune cookie, and my friend told me he knew where to get one. After class, he brought me to the little table in Bartle Library. Turns out the guy was giving out cookies — except it wasn’t a fortune cookie — it’s a vegan booth. There was a wheel that I must spin, where I had to debate with the vegan about a specific topic on the wheel. Face to face with the topic of taste, I lied straight to the vegan’s face. I told him that we can compromise the taste a little with chemicals, but think about the animals saved. He doesn’t know that my freezer has dozens of pounds of meat. Oh yeah, the Biscoff cookie I got from him actually tasted pretty good.
